DiXi group: Proposals on enhancing the sanctions regime in response to the Russian military aggression against Ukraine (energy sector)

Energy revenues play a vital role for Russia in financing the war it has waged in Ukraine. Despite introducing an unprecedented amount of sanctions, which brings Russia to the status of “the world’s most-sanctioned nation”, the current restrictions are not enough, and the sanctions regime still needs to be expanded in quantity and quality. 

Therefore, the DiXi Group team presented proposals on enhancing the sanctions regime in the energy sector in response to the Russian military aggression against Ukraine. Our 10-point plan to enhance the sanctions regime against Russia is based on a thorough analysis of loopholes in the existing sanctions regime and the foreign ties of key Russian energy companies: Rosneft, Rosatom, Novatek, Lukoil, Inter RAO, Gazprom Neft, RusHydro, and SUEK.
