Meeting with German policy-makers: “Scholz’s speech in Prague: a turning point in Europe’s commitment to Ukraine’s EU integration?”

2022-10-07 | EU integration, Events

 7 October 2022

After the ambitious and positive announcements made by Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Prague a month ago, we will gather German policy-makers to learn more about the agenda and policy outlook in follow up to the Chancellor’s speech. The call to deliver the promise made to the EU accession candidates and the vision of 30 or 36 member-strong EU signals a seismic shift in Germany’s position towards EU enlargement. Together with the members of Bundestag and German Chancellery, leading in foreign policy and European affairs, we discussed the German perspective towards EU enlargement, including concrete policy implications of the Chancellor’s announcements, Ukraine’s preparations, and homework that needs to be done at the EU level.
