Webinar: The Way to Sustainable Peace in Europe: Why the West Should Seek Russia’s Unconditional Defeat in Ukraine

United for Ukraine Network (U4U) organized an online panel discussion “The way to sustainable peace in Europe: why the West should seek Russia’s unconditional defeat in Ukraine”, which took place on 27 September, Wednesday, at 14:00-15:30 CEST (Brussels local time) remotely on Zoom.

Ukraine is consistently asking its Western partners to provide equipment and weaponry necessary to achieve the objectives of the ongoing counter-offensive. Western leaders, meanwhile, are dragging their feet.

At the Vilnius NATO Summit, Ukraine did not receive an invitation to join NATO, Western leaders say they will support Ukraine “as long as it takes” and not “until Ukraine’s victory”, and there are reports of pressure on Ukraine to come to the table of “peace talks” with Russia.

Why is the West afraid to commit itself to helping Ukraine achieve a crushing military victory against Russia? What lies behind the West’s hesitancy to pursue fundamental geopolitical change on the European continent and to invest heavily in a decisive military defeat of Putin?

Panel:
